Staff Accountant

WORK ENVIRONMENT: On-Site at Trackless Vehicles Office (Courtland, Ontario)

TYPE: Full-time permanent: Monday – Thursday 8am – 4:30pm; Friday 8am – 3pm

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The staff accountant is responsible for supporting the finance team in the accurate and timely execution of accounting responsibilities including month end close, AP/AR support, reconciliations, financial reporting, and other financial projects as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years’ experience in an Accountant position or a related accounting role.
  • Post-secondary Advanced Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, a related program, OR equivalent experience.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Experience with accounting software and the ability to learn new systems, including ERP. Experience with Syspro and/or Unicom Finance/Cognos is a plus.
  • Advanced experience using Office 365, with a focus on Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute assignments with general guidelines and work independently.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Perform month end reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Complete monthly working papers and provide flux commentary on variances.
  • Execute, analyze, and distribute various financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct daily bank reconciliations and facilitate payments.
  • Investigate and respond to internal and external inquiries and provide data as requested.
  • Assist in internal and external audit requests.
  • Review AP payment runs for approval and accuracy.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
