Trackless MT7: A Toolcat Alternative

Trackless MT7: A Toolcat Alternative

When it comes to campus maintenance, versatility is a priority. While many campus grounds maintenance departments rely on Toolcat machines to manage campus surroundings, the Trackless MT7 is a high-powered, durable alternative with over 30 different attachments available.

Both machines are versatile, powerful, and designed to tackle a variety of tasks, but let’s explore what sets them apart and why the Trackless MT7 stands out.

Versatility and Durability

While the Toolcat is an incredibly versatile piece of equipment, it doesn’t match the pure durability of the Trackless MT7. The MT7 is engineered with both durability and versatility at its core. Weighing in at 6900 pounds, the MT7’s heavy-duty steel construction means it can easily tackle challenging tasks in any season. The Toolcat UW53 weighs 5710 pounds. All exterior panels of the MT7, as well as the cab, feature heavy-duty steel construction. The use of steel allows for easier and more cost-effective repairs compared to replacing non-metallic materials, such as plastic.

With over 30 attachments available, it can easily transition from snow removal in winter to landscaping in summer and everything in between. 365-day use means zero downtime for your Trackless MT7.

The Toolcat’s hydraulic power steering allows it to manoeuvre around tight spaces; it has a turning radius of 11.2 feet. But even though it’s slightly larger, the Trackless MT7 is an articulated machine; it has an inside turning radius of approximately 8 feet.

Power and Performance

The MT7 is equipped with a robust John Deere 4045 TFC 03 engine that meets Stage 5 emission standards. Designed to handle the most demanding jobs, its high horsepower and torque ensure that it can power through tough conditions, whether it’s heavy snow or rugged terrain. Plus, the Trackless MT7 features both a front and rear PTO, unlike the Toolcat; the UW56 model does not feature a PTO, and the UW53 is equipped with only a rear PTO.

The Trackless MT7 is equipped with PTO Work Mode and Standard Mode to increase efficiency and performance. PTO Work Mode allows an operator to set the engine at full RPM to power PTO-driven attachments such as a snowblower or mower and control ground speed independently by way of the hydrostatic foot pedal. Flip the switch to Standard Mode, and the tractor drives like a car. Standard Mode saves a significant amount of fuel as the engine RPM returns to idle when letting off the pedal vs constant full RPM when in Work Mode.

Operator Comfort and Control

The MT7’s design prioritizes operator comfort. Its ergonomic cab, adjustable seating, and intuitive controls allow operators to work long hours with minimal fatigue. Full climate controls keep the operator cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Diagnostic System

The Trackless MT7 is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital dash system. The digital dash displays all relevant tractor information, including fluid temperatures, speedometer, engine RPM, fuel level, selected gear range, forward/neutral/reverse, turn signals, and more. The digital dash computer also operates as an onboard diagnostic system; if a fault is detected, the user can access tractor diagnostics through the dash.

Serviceability

Built to last, the MT7 features heavy-duty construction and components designed for longevity. Tractor maintenance is straightforward with easy access to key components, ensuring minimal downtime. Left and right side panels and the rear panel grill all lift off within a couple minutes and without the use of any tools. The lift-assisted hood is constructed from steel, ensuring durability.

Trackless prioritizes tech support and parts supply through our distribution network. All parts orders received by Trackless before 1:30 p.m. are shipped out the same day, minimizing your machine’s downtime if maintenance is required. Engine maintenance is easy; if engine parts are required, John Deere has over 4800 locations worldwide, 2950 of which are located in North America.
